To learn and then promote the highest standard of business ethos within the financial administration of the school and support the most effective use of resources and assist the Finance Manager in their responsibilities to ensure that the school meets its educational aims.

EMPLOYMENT DUTIES:

To report and work closely with the Finance Officer and  Manager to support them with the school’s financial resource management

To support and assist the Finance Officer and Manager in running a smooth and efficient office, the standard of accountancy and accountability for audit purpose and of the school finance policy

To support and assist in specific financial tasks including;

  • Procurement, using the Finance system and the internet;
  • Purchase ordering,
  • Goods delivery,
  • Invoicing and outstanding debts
  • Processing of cheque and BACs runs
  • To book all training courses, make transport arrangements and provide reports, as required
  • Sales invoices and manage credit control
  • Upkeep the Asset Register
  • Banking and petty cash
  • VAT returns
  • Reconciliation

To support and assist the Finance Officer and Manager in the promotion of educational trips and visits following school procedures and to maintain the private unofficial funds accountings functions and prepare accounts for auditing, including:

  • To set up cost centres for trips and visits, liaising with trip organisers
  • To receive and receipt payments from students for trips and activities
  • To ensure that all monies are regularly banked and to complete monthly bank reconciliations
  • To control and reconcile the petty cash account
  • To liaise with stakeholders regarding the use of on-line payments and telephone credit/debit payments
  • To receive and receipt payments from students for trips and activities
  • To carry out monthly controls and checks.
  • To liaise with stakeholders regarding the use of on-line payments.

To set a good example in terms of personal presentation, attendance, punctuality and meeting of deadlines

Recognise own strengths and areas of expertise and use these to advise and support others

To be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health and safety, security, confidentiality and data protection act, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person

Contribute to the development and implementation of the overall ethos/work/aims of the school

The main duties and responsibilities above will be the basis of the job in its own right but you will be core to a wider role within the school. You will be needed to undertake a variety of different activities if required and directed by the Finance Manager, Director of Business Management or Headteacher.
